The birdseye pine is a relatively rare wood to work with (in fact, we haven't seen it anywhere else!). For a soundboard - the top of an instrument - it's best to use softer woods (spruce, pine, cedar), and pine was a commonly used choice on earlier guitars. But it can be a bit of a boring wood, too. So the birdseye pine offers an aesthetically pleasing means for accomplishing that higher-quality resonance.

Note the pairing of zebra wood used on the back, as well.  No spared details to make these pickin' sticks beautiful to look at as well as tonally rich.

This is an excellent instrument for all levels of players, but with the lower price it works especially well for younger beginners (you know... bumping into things and whatnot...)

Regardless of your skill level, you can't go wrong with this one!
