Johnny Cash's "Hurt" on Seagull Merlin Dulcimer Guitar in D

"Hurt" is the song that revived Johnny Cash's career.

While not written for him, it was originally penned by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Johnny's version has become the de facto version of the song. His presence, life story, and deep baritone give it such a haunting feel.

LEARN to play "Hurt" here.

For the stick dulcimer guitar, I've tried to maintain aspects of the original recording's feel even though there are notes that are unavailable here. You'll notice in the arrangement I went for using only fingers to pick strings until the last chorus where I switched to a pick (tucked in my right hand) to add building intensity, and volume.

And if you want to see one way to arrange and perform it, here's a fun example
